If the seller has caused a huge delay by their "feet-dragging" i dont see why not. The buyers motivation could change in a matter of weeks. Isnt there a time limit on a p.a. for a reason?

actually a contract is a contract and the buyer would need to be released by the seller to simply walk away. Otherwise the buyer would have to take it to the courts. True there is a date in the contract but the judge would have to determine that the seller is dragging their feet and then release the buyer and seller from the contract.

Right.... that's exactly what I am saying... a contract is a contract. The contract says that any extensions in time must be agreed to in writing. So how does a buyer who paid attention to every detail and time line become the bad guy when the timeline expires and he's become disenchanted?

Good topic. I think the purchaser would have to show that the seller was dragging feet and causing the purchaser $$$$. ( I wonder if the purchaser could sue for mental anguish, purchasing a home is so emotional!) If the shoe were on the other foot, as long as the mortgage is approved and paperwork is holding up the transaction, the seller can't walk. Just my 2 cents!!
